Wait… it’s Friday again?
This week has gone by so fast! I hope you all have fabulous weekend plans 🙂
This week’s Friday 56 book is The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion.
Description From Goodreads:
Narrator Don Tillman 39, Melbourne genetics prof and Gregory Peck lookalike, sets a 16-page questionnaire The Wife Project to find a non-smoker, non-drinker ideal match. But Rosie and her Father Project supersede. The spontaneous always-late smoker-drinker wants to find her biological father. She resets his clock, throws off his schedule, and turns his life topsy-turvy.
Thoughts:
I just finished reading this book today, and I loved it. It’s funny but also very sweet and uplifting. The main character, Don, is socially awkward to say the least. This, combined with his desire to find the perfect woman to marry leads to some laugh-out-loud moments. My favourite thing about this book is the way that Don’s internal dialogue completely confuses what is happening in the real world. He misreads and misunderstands most social cues and almost every conversation – he is the ultimate unreliable narrator.
Quote From Page 56:
Rosie plugged in her phone, and music emanated from the speakers. It was not loud, but I was certain that if I had put on a podcast without asking permission when visiting someone’s house, I would have been accused of a social error. Very certain, as I had made this exact mistake at a dinner party four years and sixty-seven days ago.
What are you reading this week?
Have you read The Rosie Project – what did you think of it?
